A Pixspan Data customer commissioned a case study that looked at the transfer times for Digital Intermediate content of an popular epic fantasy movie over a high latency 1 Gbps WAN link. The latency employed was equivalent to what is typically experienced between New Zealand and Los Angeles (about 150 msec). The content was comprised of 2K 3D 48 fps DPX frames totalling 8.2 TBytes. The transfer of this entire content, which took 20 hours, is shown in the following diagram. This test illustrated how WAN Optimization achieved about 91% of the available bandwidth, resulting in almost an entire day for the transfer for this content.
